Since retiring, he is definitely more calm and quiet. Rafa Nadal, winner of 22 Slam titles, is enjoying the new phase of his life. In a lengthy interview with AS, he said he hasn&#8217t taken much of a hit since his farewell to tennis. “It is true that it has only been a year, that I have not stopped for a long time, that I have done several things… but without any problem, at any time. I have fully accepted this new life and I am enjoying it”, his words.

On the sidelines of a tournament in Mallorca, the'former world number one rejected any comparison between the'current duopoly and the Big Three he was part of
"Me, Roger and Novak were what we were and that was it"

"In the end, Jannik and Carlos must live their own story"

"And every story is different, and there's no need to make continuous comparisons"

"What we had was an'era of three players who changed, even if only a little bit' the numbers that existed until then"
"And now there'is their story"
Nadal then dwelt on Alcaraz: "E' impressive"
"The truth is that having someone like him in Spain helps us to continue to be a reference country of world tennis"
"Carlos gives continuity to this whole era of successes, not only in tennis, but also in sports in general"

The Majorcan is returning to talk about Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. In the recent past there had been talk of his “weakness” for his compatriot: “They are different players from me. I think Carlos is more instinctive: he makes more mistakes, he makes more spectacular points, sometimes he doesn&#8217t have such a defined pattern of play, which makes him unpredictable and fun for the spectator. Jannik is a more methodical, focused player, with a more defined game scheme and adding things little by little, which is why he is so solid and loses very few games. Sometimes it seems like Carlos is more scattershot but he has had an incredibly consistent and solid year in all the major tournaments”.

Rafa Nadal also talked about a possible return to the court, perhaps in some tournament for legends, perhaps organizing something together with his rival and fraternal friend Roger Federer: “If we have fun, if we can do something that makes sense and we feel like it, why not? There is no closed door to pick up a racquet again, but I should prepare myself thoroughly. When you go out to play, you want to be prepared, and right now I’m not. It would take time to prepare”.

The’former Spanish outfielder also revealed that, at the moment, the’idea of pursuing a coaching career is not what he has in mind, precisely because he wants to enjoy life and, above all, his family. However, he did not rule out, in the future, the possibility of becoming the captain of the Spanish national team in the Davis Cup.

“The closing remark concerns his current relationship with tennis: “I don&#8220t live my daily life thinking about tennis, apart from occasional moments when I feel like watching something or, of course, thanks to the’Academy, where I live it a little bit’ more on a daily basis, but from a completely different” perspective.
