Roma, on travel ban for fans Gian Piero Gasperini goes down flat

Gian Piero Gasperini is not hiding about the away ban imposed until the end of the season on Roma fans. On the eve of Thursday’s match against Stuttgart, however, the Piedmontese coach also dwelt on his team’s momentum, the prospects of doing well in Serie A and the Europa League, without forgetting some nods to the Giallorossi’s soccer market. Both in terms of the outgoing operations and, possibly, those that could still close in the incoming ones.
One of the hottest topics of the Giallorossi week, however, remains the away ban that will affect Roma fans until the end of the season. On the issue Gasperini did not hide: “The ’eternal problem is that for a few you penalize everyone. These are situations that no one would want, they are not part of the sport and this is clear to all. The measures exist so that fewer of them happen, but I am sorry because seeing so many people away is always good. So I cannot say if this is the best possible penalty, but personally I think it is not”.
In the meantime, Roma have relaunched themselves in the race for fourth place in Serie A, thanks in part to Paulo Dybala, who is back in goal during the trip to Turin. And it was precisely the Argentine who was the focus of Gasperini’s praise: “Paulo had already done well. Then, after a drop, he took a little longer to recover. But this Roma team stood out from the start because of its mentality and group motivation. The performances have always been good, then I hope that over time our quality will improve further. Then it is obvious that the years pass for everyone, but Paulo can be decisive despite having a little something less in terms of speed”.
Another goal besides fourth place in Serie A is obviously the Europa League, which Gasperini has moreover already brought to his trophy cabinet. “The last one was won by Atalanta, but the one before that was Parma. And the last Champions League was Inter in 2010. Winning a trophy is a problem, and if it becomes the only rewarding aspect you are always disappointed. So I don’t put the point there, but on always growing”, cautioned the Roma coach.
Finally, the soccer market and the case concerning Leon Bailey. “His was a’negative experience, he was injured already on the first day and then had several relapses. He went through an ordeal, even when it looked like he could recover. We were convinced that he could help us, but the match with Torino led us to make the decision, which moreover potentially opens up a space for him to come in as well. We will see”, Gasperini concluded.
