Milan market, surprise hypothesis for midfield

January is an important month, from the point of view of the soccer market, not only because of the possibilities of making immediate changes within the squad, but also because it is the month in which one can start making arrangements with the players who will be released from next July 1. Among them, a special watcher is Weston McKennie, who was relaunched by Luciano Spalletti at Juventus: for the American, according to ‘TMW’, there would be the interest of AC Milan and its coach Massimiliano Allegri, who coached him during his second spell in the Bianconero.

McKennie’s contract expires precisely on June 30, 2026.

Juventus has scheduled new talks with the agents in February, to avoid losing him at parameter zero, but the player’s demands would be complicating the negotiation, with Milan that would be ready to take advantage of it to snatch a pre-agreement for next summer, according to the rules in force for this type of transfer. The Rossoneri management could talk, in this sense, even only with the player’s entourage, without the involvement of Juventus.

A 1998 year-old, McKennie is carving out more and more space for himself at Juventus due to his ability to adapt to multiple roles and affect both phases. His growth under Spalletti has been evident, but the current renewal-related situation could turn into a concrete opportunity for Milan if contract extension negotiations slow down further. The Rossoneri would not think twice: McKennie represents an experienced profile that can be immediately inserted into Massimiliano Allegri’s system of play.

All Milan&#8217s idea is to anticipate possible competitors, avoiding an auction to the upside from the point of view of the salary. Much will depend on the talks between the player and Juventus, and at the moment there has been no lunge by the Rossoneri, but the feeling is that Milan&#8217s interest could condition the negotiations for the renewal.

In the meantime, McKennie, on the field, is enjoying an extremely positive moment, having scored three times in the last five games played between the league and the Champions League: against Lecce he scored the 1-1 goal (result remained unchanged at the triple whistle), against Cremonese he scored the fifth of Juve&#8217s five goals scored while against Benfica he closed the accounts with the 2-0 goal that came a few minutes after the lead signed by Khephren Thuram.
