Martin Castrogiovanni meets with students

On Jan. 30, 2026, Eastern Piedmont University will dedicate an Athenaeum meeting to the Dual Career program, inclusion and promotion of mental and physical well-being in its academic ecosystem. The meeting will be held at the “Gaudenzio Cattaneo” Auditorium on the Perrone University Campus in Novara, Italy (Via Perrone 18), at 2 p.m.
.
At the center of the meeting will be the Dual Career program, an initiative designed to support female student-athletes in reconciling their commitment to competitive sports and their university studies. This initiative is not isolated; it represents an important point in the University’s Strategic Plan 2024-2030. UPO, in fact, aims to become a “Healthy Campus,” or an environment where physical health, mental well-being and sustainability are a daily part of university life.
The event will feature speeches by UPO Rector Professor Menico Rizzi, UPO’s contact person for relations with UNISPORT, Professor Domenico D’Amario, and CUS Piemonte Orientale (CUSPO) President Alice Cometti, who will present the 2026 edition of the National University Championships that will be hosted precisely in Eastern Piedmont.
The University places the student at the center of a system that values the soft skills acquired outside the classroom. Sport, in particular, is promoted both for its competitive value and as a tool for organizational well-being. To do this in an even more incisive way, UPO has chosen former rugby player and Italian National Rugby Team prop MartÃn Castrogiovanni as a special testimonial for this event. With 119 appearances with the Azzurri national team, Castrogiovanni was one of the strongest and most charismatic props in the world. An international sports legend, today “Castro” is a well-known television face as well as a symbol of resilience and team spirit, aspects that will be the focus of his talk.
