German Freddy Schott has won the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, a DP World Tour tournament played on the Royal Golf Club of Riffa course (par 72) in the Kingdom of Bahrain, by winning at the end of a three-way playoff. Schott finished the four-day event with 271 strokes (-17), tied with U.S. Patrick Reed and Scotland’s Calum Hill, then overtaking them on the second additional hole.

Good performance by the Italians, with Andrea Pavan ninth at 275 (-13), and Francesco Laporta leading a solid final round comeback, from 34th to 16th with 277 (-11): for both it was the best performance of the season. Pavan signed a final round in 69 (-3), while Laporta closed with 68 (-4).

In fourth at 272 (-16) were New Zealander Daniel Hillier and Spaniard Sergio Garcia, both leading for a few holes before a double bogey on 14 ousted Garcia from the title fight. Sixth at 273 (-15) Frenchman Ugo Coussaud, seventh at 274 (-14) Scotland’s Grant Forrest and Spain’s Nacho Elvira.

Further back the other Italians: Matteo Manassero 41st (-7), Guido Migliozzi 47th (-6), Filippo Celli 52nd (-5), Renato Paratore 59th (-2) and Gregorio De Leo 64th (+2). Out at the cut was Stefano Mazzoli.
