After spending more than half a billion euros in the last summer market session, Liverpool is set to do the same in 2026. Reds executives are working to strengthen their defense, and according to rumors reported by some English newspapers they have put a Barcelona star in Hansi Flick’s crosshairs.

Liverpool has reportedly put Jules Koundé on the purchase list: to snatch the French national from the Catalan club, the Reds would be willing to invest up to 80 million euros. A very high figure that if confirmed would sway Barcelona, which is looking for money for the incoming market.

Liverpool coach Arne Slot and managers are preparing for the potential double farewell of captain Virgil Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté, whose contracts are expiring, and are looking for world-class defenders who can replace them and complete the department.

Koundé has long been one of the names approached by Liverpool, which already in the past, when Klopp still sat on the bench, tried to acquire him without success.

Under Flick’s management, Koundé has become an even more important player in Barcelona, and this season he has already played 35 official matches, scoring three goals and making two assists. His market value is estimated at around 65 million euros, and he has a contract with the Catalans until 2030.
