Neymar is ready to leave playing soccer. The 34-year-old striker, who returned to play for Santos in 2025, confessed that he may decide to retire by the end of this year&#8217s contract with the Brazilian club.

“I don&#8220t know what the future holds for me, I don&#8217t know what will happen next year. I am living year by year and day by day, I have not yet decided what to do–explained the former Barcelona and PSG striker.&#8217 Perhaps I could end my career in December. By now I live from year to year”.

“We will see what my heart will decide. It depends on what it will tell me later in the year” continued the Brazilian forward, who confessed that he does not have the motivation he once had: “I might get the urge to retire, now I want to live it day by day for both Santos and the Brazilian national team. That’s my biggest challenge”, he told the sports channel “Caze”.

Last season Neymar, despite an injury, contributed decisively to Santos’ salvation. In recent years several injuries have heavily affected his performance on the field, and he is currently out with a knee problem.

Despite the problems, Neymar still believes he can be called up by coach Carlo Ancelotti for the World Cup in Mexico, Canada, and the United States: “This year is a very important year, not only for Santos, but also for Brazil, because it&#8217s the year of the World Cup, and I hope it&#8217s for me as well. It is a huge challenge”.

Since his appointment as Brazil coach, Ancelotti has yet to call him up, although he has opened up about his return to the national team: “We hope to see Neymar back at his highest level, today’s soccer requires a lot not only technically but also on a physical level and intensity”.
