The decision to sever the relationship with Martelossi and Sacripanti comes at the tail end of a negative period from a results standpoint for Pistoia, which has won only one game since the start of the calendar year, on Feb. 8 against Pistoia, losing eight. The standings see the red and white in the middle of the playout zone with 12 total points, the result of six wins and twenty-one losses: the salvation quota is currently eight points away, with eleven regular season games still to be played.

The schedule, before the Italian Cup break, sees Pistoia engaged in an away game against Roseto on Sunday, March 1, and at home against Scafati seven days later. Two key contests to measure the comeback ambitions in the standings of the Tuscan outfit, which is back in A2 this year after last year&#8217s relegation from the top series.
