On the sidelines of Roberto D’Aversa&#8217s presentation as Torino&#8217s new coach, Urbano Cairo answered reporters&#8217 questions in the press room at the Olimpico Grande Torino, making no secret of the possibility of leaving ownership of the Granata club. “I have already said on other occasions that I am willing to put Torino up for sale – he said. The reality of the facts is that, to date, not a single offer has arrived. The willingness on my part is there and it is public, but there is a lack of potential buyers”.

“Right now the’environment around the team is not the most favorable – added the entrepreneur, who has been at the managerial helm of Torino since 2005. “We have to draw new strength from within, be motivated to change things. We have a crazy fan base that can give us a big hand, it is a pity it is not happening but it has to be us, who represent the company, to make a major change. The protest? I see it and I feel it, but I also feel the responsibility towards this club”.

On the need to change the technical leadership of Toro, Cairo added: “We are here to introduce a new coach, already this is a sign of how things did not go as we wanted. I am really sorry and I want to apologize to all the fans, I have great respect for them and I know that just as there are applauses, in soccer, there are also protests. On my part there&#8217s a desire to change course, but also a sense of responsibility: I take responsibility for what has happened so far”.

Of the relationship with the fans also spoke Roberto D’Aversa, who officially took the place of the exonerated Marco Baroni: “The team needs the public but at the same time it must entice them to cheer. We have a clear goal, that of salvation, and we need everyone&#8217s contribution, including those who follow us at the stadium. Cheering can bring six or seven more points, I would like to have our fans close even during training”.

Torino awaits a crucial month of March, which could change the balance in the salvation zone in an important way: D’Aversa will make his debut against Lazio on Sunday 1, then go seven days later to Napoli against Antonio Conte’s men. This will be followed by a salvation challenge against Parma, at home, on the 15th, while the following week there will be another away match against a top team, Milan.
