After the controversy of recent matches, Luciano Spalletti has decided to send Michele Di Gregorio to the bench for the Champions League playoff return match against Galatasaray. In his place between the posts is Mattia Perin, who has his big chance to show off and win a starting spot in the upcoming matches as well.

Di Gregorio had been heavily criticized by fans in recent weeks for his mistakes in the league and in the Champions League, Spalletti himself had remarked on the number of goals conceded by the Bianconeri goalkeeper at the first shot on goal.

Before the match with the Turks, Spalletti to Sky was clear about his exclusion: “Di Gregorio out? You make thorough evaluations, you also get the boy involved and see how he reacts. Now it is right to do that, even for a couple of games or maybe three, so that he can regain what are his skills”.
