Champions League: ahead of PSG and Real Madrid

Atalanta, Galatasaray, PSG and Real Madrid are the four teams qualified for the Champions League round of 16 after the return leg of the playoffs played Wednesday. The French champions only needed to draw 2-2 at home against Monaco: they had won 3-2 in the first leg in the Principality.

Monaco, which had taken the lead through Akliouche, was left with 10 men in the second half due to Coulibaly’s expulsion for double caution in 3′. It was a folly that cost the visiting team dearly, as they conceded 1-1 from Marquinhos and 2-1 from Kvaratskhelia. Teze then scored the 2-2 but too late, at 91′.

Real Madrid also had to sweat to beat Mourinho’s Benfica: the Eagles took the lead through Rafa Silva on 14′ but conceded the equalizer on 16′ from Tchouameni.
