Three-year deal for Peru national team striker

Gianluca Lapadula is officially a Cagliari player. The news, more and more certain as the days passed, acquired all the trappings of officiality on Monday evening, with the official announcement from the island club.

“Cagliari Calcio is pleased to announce the definitive purchase from Benevento of the footballer Gianluca Lapadula,” the note reads, “who has signed a contract until June 30, 2025.

It is therefore a three-year deal that binds the 1990-class striker to the Rossoblù colors. At Cagliari, Lapadula arrives with 156 goals scored in his career with club teams in 388 total games. With the jersey of the Peru national team, which he represents having direct origins on his mother’s side and with which he came close to qualifying for Qatar 2022 losing only in the intercontinental play-off against Australia, he scored 8 goals in 22 games played.
