“I hoped that Ayumu could achieve victory.”

A decidedly positive Japanese Grand Prix for Sterilgarda Husqvarna Max Racing with Ayumu Sasaki taking third place and John McPhee crossing the finish line in seventh.

Particularly noteworthy is the result of Ayumu, who, in front of his fans, brought back a podium by a Japanese rider at the Motegi track, which had been missing since 2009, when Hiroshi Aoyama placed second in the 250 class.

Interviewed after the race, Max Biaggi, team director, showed a hint of regret: “A good result that Ayumu achieved today. Of course until a few laps from the end I hoped that Ayumu could get the victory. Something was missing to get on the top step of the podium and from these considerations we have to start again, to work and try to improve since the next grand prix in Thailand. John reached seventh position, but I hope that before the end of the year he can take one more step, which will allow him to fight for the podium.”
