A few days after the presentation of the 106th edition of the Giro d’Italia, at which Vincenzo Nibali attended as a special guest, an important recognition arrived for the ‘Shark’.

At the awards gala of the “Gazzetta Sports Awards SeeSicily,” the event promoted by La Gazzetta dello Sport that celebrates Italian sports champions held Thursday evening at the Segesta Archaeological Park in Calatafimi, the president of the Region of Sicily Renato Schifani presented the SeeSicily Legend award to Vincenzo Nibali, a Sicilian sports star.

“We must focus on a tourism of sports and entertainment, attracting and enhancing our great champions, such as Nibali,” said the politician.

As fate would have it, the organizers of the Giro have ‘restored’ the return of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo stage exactly 10 years after the last time, in 2013, when the Sicilian rider himself triumphed, who in recent days recalled the epic feat by recounting the incredible difficulties he encountered that day, when he crossed the finish line first, almost without realizing it.
