Obstructs Pecco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez: punished Franco Morbidelli
Another hiccup for Franco Morbidelli
Yet another hiccup in Franco Morbidelli’s troubled season. MotoGp stewards have handed him a double long lap penalty for proceeding slowly and on track in the final minutes of FP3 at the Petronas Grand Prix of Malaysia. With his maneuver, the Monster Energy Yamaha centaur disturbed both Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) and Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team): both the Piedmontese and the Spaniard were launched in a time attack.
In Sepang, the talented Franco, a product of Valentino Rossi’s Academy, will start from seventh on the grid.
After six titles won by Valentino Rossi in eight years it was the Spanish riders who took the lion’s share of the MotoGp world championship. From 2012 to 2020 only they have won, with Jorge Lorenzo a two-time world champion, Marc Marquez (6) and Joan Mir, triumphant in 2020 with his Suzuki.
