Lazio stellar in Bergamo: net 2-0, first knockout for Atalanta
The first loss of the season on the one hand, a most important test of maturity on the other.
Lazio beat Atalanta 2-0 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, in a match in which the Biancoceleste’s dominance was even sharper than the result suggests. Decisive goals, one in each half, by Zaccagni and Felipe Anderson. Biancocelesti now third in the standings, paired at 24 with a Dea side that had yet to lose during this season in Serie A.
Already the very first minutes of the match suggested a better verve of Lazio, which already sealed its territorial dominance with the Zaccagni-signed lead in the 10th minute: a splendid choral action started by Milinkovic-Savic, continued with Pedro’s lunge on the flank and ended with the timely insertion of Maurizio Sarri’s midfielder.
Atalanta tried to react against the difficulties, but only Hateboer made himself concretely dangerous. Instead, Lazio came close to doubling the score, then signed in the 52nd minute by Felipe Anderson author of a real personal feat. Gian Piero Gasperini’s difficulties are already seen by the double change during the interval, but nothing changes. Only in the final the revived Malinovskyi and the usual Hateboer attempt a conclusion. Muriel, however, ends a bad night with an expulsion in the 90th minute.
