Matteo Berrettini, hats off in front of Lorenzo Musetti
Hats off to a young colleague who beat him in a final.
Matteo Berrettini fell to Lorenzo Musetti, who thus won the ATP 250 tournament in Naples. The Carrarese player managed to prevail in two sets: very hard-fought in the first, decidedly more one-sided in the second. This was evidenced by the final score: 7-6(5), 6-2.
At the end of the Naples final, therefore, Berrettini had words of high praise for Musetti. “I give Lorenzo my compliments,” he in fact said at the end of the match, “When I was his age, I was still playing in the Challengers. Luckily in the national team he is a teammate of mine, this is really good news for me.”
Berrettini then admitted that he was also affected in Naples by a less than perfect physical condition, especially in front of a very determined opponent. “It didn’t end the way I wanted, however, until the end I kept trying,” he explained.
