Federer-Wimbledon: incredible backstory.

Roger Federer recently took part in an interview on Trevor Noah’s TV program “The Daily Show” which airs in the United States. In particular, the Swiss star told an amusing backstory regarding the Wimbledon tournament. In fact, the 20-time Slam champion recently went to the courts of the All England Club, but the security guard would not let him in.

“I’ve never been to Wimbledon when the tournament is not going on,” Roger began, “I went all the way to the gate, where guests usually enter. I got out of the car and told Severin Luthi that I was going to talk to security. I asked the guard if I could get in and he said you needed a card. I have it, when you win at Wimbledon you automatically become a member. But it is at home somewhere, she repeated to me that I had to be a member. So I looked at her for the last time and I was panicking, I felt guilty. I looked at her and said, ‘I have won this tournament eight times, please believe me, I am a member. Where should I enter?'”

It was only at the moment when a fan approached to ask for a photo that Federer was able to enter: “They were going to another entrance when a fan recognized me and asked ‘Mr. Federer, can we take a photo?’ I replied ‘Yes yes, of course.’ At that point other security people recognized me and let me in.”
