Giuseppe Marotta doesn’t discount Romelu Lukaku
“We expect something important from him.”
After the World Cup break, Inter is immediately expected to undergo the trial by fire: in fact, on January 4, the irresistible Napoli – which can already boast an 11-point advantage in the classiifca over the Nerazzurri – will go up to the San Siro, and they will try to oust the Beneamata from the Scudetto fight for good.
Speaking at the Meneghina club’s Christmas dinner, CEO Beppe Marotta granted himself to the microphones of Sky Sport. Here are his words.
“A beautiful page of soccer has just ended, demonstrating how the World Cup is a phenomenon of beautiful aggregation. It is normal that we want to start again with the desire to take great satisfaction. A club like Inter, because of the history it represents, cannot but be ambitious. We have to be able to be competitive against an opponent like Napoli, which so far has proven to be the strongest,” the executive began.
The great absentee of the first part of the season, Romelu Lukaku, is eagerly awaited by both Tencico Inzaghi and the Nerazzurri fans themselves. Marotta makes no secret of the fact that he still has high expectations for the Belgian center forward: “Romelu is a player who loves Inter, and we have understood this for some time. We definitely expect something important from him. He is struggling with this muscle discomfort but I think he has recovered. Now he has to find his condition again, but he has great drive and determination,” he concluded.
