Marta Bassino, unbridled joy: ‘But what anxiety’
“It’s the crowning achievement of the work and perseverance it takes to get to these levels.”
After the tension, Marta Bassino lets all her joy explode for the wonderful gold medal she won in the World Cup Skiing SuperG event: “I’m overjoyed but what anxiety to see all the athletes go down, as in the top I took so much. I think I did well in the final stretch, and it was very nice to hug Shiffrin, really very nice. Overall it was a pain to live it like that: now I’m happy, although I admit I still have to realize well what happened.”
“The first victory in superg, right here at the World Cup is unbelievable: I just thought about skiing as I know, although I had everything clear in my head from the reconnaissance. It always makes a difference to push every turn and today is a different emotion from the parallel in Cortina, something stronger. It’s the crowning achievement of the work and perseverance that it takes to get to these levels, now I will have to rest and then train to prepare parallel and giant,” are the words resumed by Fisi.
