Only victory is missing for the great Italy in the foil Grand Prix “Inalpi Trophy” in Turin. Four blue medals arrived at the Pala Alpitour: the silvers of Filippo Macchi and Erica Cipressa, followed by the bronzes of Daniele Garozzo and Camilla Mancini. Four podiums of great value for the group led by CT Stefano Cerioni: the first time to medal among the Absolutes of a super Filippo Macchi, who lacks only one hit to complete a masterpiece competition, but also the show of strength of Erica Cipressa, the confirmation of a champion such as Olympian Daniele Garozzo, for the first time this year on the World Pair podium, and the well-deserved bronze medal of Camilla Mancini after an exhilarating run.

He warmed the hearts of the Turin audience Filippo Macchi until the last hit. Only by 15-14 did he manage to prevail over the Tuscan of the Fiamme Oro the American Meinhardt in a final with great emotions. Macchi, on his way through the competition, beat in the first match of the day, the one in the round of 64, the Spaniard Breteau 15-9. In the round of 32 again an Iberian on his way, Carlos Llavador, whom the Tuscan defeated 15-10. In the round of 16 he got the better of U.S. Chamley-Watson 15-7. The Fiamme Oro athlete clinched the podium after winning, with a score of 15-9, in the Italian derby over Alessio Foconi, who ended his competition in fifth place. In the semifinals Macchi defeated Olympic bronze medalist Choupenitch 15-11 stopping only in the last act.

Splendid bronze for Daniele Garozzo. The journey of the doctor from Acireale, who trains at Frascati Scherma, began with a match between the Azzurri against Alessio Di Tommaso who was beaten with a 15-12 final. The Sicilian then continued his march, in the round of 32 thanks to a 15-11 infliction on the American Kumbla. In the round of 16, the Rio 2016 Olympic champion got the better of Canadian Van Haaster 15-8 before overcoming Korea’s Lee with a score of 15-6 and securing the medal. Garozzo was beaten by U.S. Meinhardt 15-14 in the semifinal match while still climbing the podium at the individual level for the first time this season.
