Dick Fosbury died, revolutionized athletics
Dick Fosbury died
Few in the world, perhaps none, have revolutionized their sport as much as he did. Dick Fosbury, gold medalist at the Olympics staged in Mexico City in 1968, has died at age 76.
A U.S. high jumper, he was born on March 6, 1947, in Portland, Oregon, and had not followed traditional techniques: he, for one, began to climb over the bar by turning his back, not his belly.
