Former Manchester City and Arsenal man announces retirement
Emmanuel Adebayor, through a video posted on his social channels, announced his retirement from soccer at the age of 39. “From highs to lows, my career as a professional athlete has been an incredible journey. Thank you to all the fans for being there every step of the way. I am profoundly grateful for all that I have experienced and excited for what is to come,” these are the Togolese’s words.
His career ends with nearly 600 games played and just over 200 goals. The striker wore prestigious jerseys such as those of Real Madrid, Tottenham, Manchester City, and Arsenal managing to win the Spanish Cup with the Blancos in 2011.
However, the greatest satisfactions have come with the national team thanks to the African Ballon d’Or won in 2008 and the election for nine years in a row as the best Togolese footballer from 2005 to 2013.
