Florence, summoned
National teams technical director Antonio La Torre, in collaboration with deputy DT for youth teams Tonino Andreozzi and speed coach Filippo Di Mulo, announced the athletes summoned for the Florence Sprint Festival Relays scheduled for Sunday, May 7, in Florence.
Italy will field six relays: 4×100 men A and B, 4×100 women A and B, 4×100 men U20 and 4×100 women U18. For the men, including Olympic champions Filippo Tortu, Fausto Desalu and Lorenzo Patta, it will be the first of three opportunities (Florence, Paris June 9, Chorzow June 23-25) to get a qualifying time for the World Championships in Budapest, improving the current position in the world lists: at the moment the last useful chrono, although still not very indicative, is that of Belgium (38.73) but the situation is in flux and the definitive picture will only be had on July 30. The women’s 4×100, on the other hand, as known, is already qualified having hit the final in the previous rainbow edition. With the youth relays, a total of 26 athletes (13 men, 13 women) have been summoned for the event.
