Prior to the kickoff of the Europa League final against Roma at the ‘Puskas Arena’ in Budapest, Sevilla players wore a shirt with a dedication for Sergio Rico, Paris Saint Germain’s reserve goalkeeper and former of the Andalusian club, who is currently in intensive care after falling off a horse.

“Vamos Sergio, estamos contigo” is the message that appeared on the jerseys worn by Jesus Navas and his teammates. Sergio Rico, 29, is a native of Sevilla and was part of the Andalusian club from youth until 2018, before a loan to Fulham and a transfer to PSG.

His condition is being kept under wraps. Rico, after the accident that occurred in the aftermath of his return to Spain following the end of his club’s season, had been flown by helicopter to Seville’s Virgen del Rocio Hospital, where medical tests had found a “major head injury.”
