No Udine, Spezia-Verona in Reggio Emilia

The venue of the salvation playoff between Spezia and Verona changes, which remains scheduled for Sunday, June 11 at 8:45 p.m. but will be played at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia instead of the Dacia Arena in Udine. The news was released by Lega Serie A on Tuesday afternoon, June 6.

The decision came, inevitably influenced by the controversy related to the first decision by Lega Serie A, especially on the Juventus side. “The choice of the Dacia Arena in Udine to play the play-off between La Spezia and Verona is an offense to La Spezia fans and a lack of respect for the city and our province,” the mayor of La Spezia, Pierluigi Peracchini, had declared on social media.

“A choice that displeases the La Spezia public, which will have to shoulder a long trip to a stadium that seems to favor the onslaught of the Veronese, geographically much closer to Friuli than the Ligurians,” it also read in ‘Città Della Spezia,’ an online daily newspaper with a large following in the area.
