Marc Marquez, distant advice from Zarco: “Calm down.”
Dispassionate advice, colleague to colleague.
Marc Marquez groomed by Johann Zarco. The Frenchman, who has already collected four four podiums in the first eight races of 2023 with his Ducati Pramac, decided to send some distant advice to his Catalan colleague who is experiencing the most delicate moment of his career. And he did so in words that were all too crystal clear.
“Marc has spent a really long time in Honda,” Zarco said of Marquez, during an interview with Spanish journalist Manuel Pecino. “Precisely for this reason, perhaps he could use a little more calm and a little more control. Also because in their current state they cannot compete for the win, as their bike is not competitive enough. So they need a little bit of patience and wisdom, to avoid hurting themselves with crashes.”
Zarco then addressed his season and the new MotoGP: “I like the new format. It allows you to have a different goal every day, it’s stimulating. I then am happy with the way things are going for me, I want to keep going to the podium and get back to winning. Although with Sprint Races this can be complicated, but running them allows you to learn a lot ahead of Sunday’s race.”
Alberto Puig, on the other hand, also recently commented on the Catalan rider. “Marquez is not in his best condition and he suffered many crashes in Germany. There is no rider in the world who is happy if he falls and realizes that the bike is not at the level he needs. Then again, he is a world champion and he always wants to push harder, he never gives up. The situation has become more serious but Marc has to take it more calmly. He is not happy and we respect him,” the Honda team manager said in an interview with ‘MotoGp.com’.
