Andy Murray’s condition

New retirement for Andy Murray,

The former world number one, still struggling with the abdominal strain that forced him to forfeit his round of 16 match in Toronto against Jannik Sinner, has raised the white flag at the Cincinnati Open.

Murray was scheduled to face 27-year-old Russian Karen Khachanov in the first round, who curiously cancelled himself from the tournament. In their place, the two lucky losers Altmaier and Popyrin already faced each other on the night, with the latter victorious in three sets.

Rafael Nadal predicted earlier this year that Jannik Sinner would win his first career Masters 1000 in 2023.

In an interview with ATP Tour channels in February, Nadal was clear about Sinner’s chances: “Who will win his first Masters 1000 this year? Sinner. He’s close by now, he’s young, he’s growing up and he has the right potential…why not,” the Manacor-based tennis player had said, hitting the prediction dead center.

In addition to Nadal, Lorenzo Musetti had also gotten the prediction right, answering the same question, “I think Jannik will win it because he deserves it, he is playing very well.”

Nadal and Jannik Sinner have faced each other three times in their careers, and the Spaniard 22 times winner of a Slam tournament has always come out on top.
