Abdou Harroui is the top scorer in Serie A 2023/24
Abdou Harroui scores the first goal of the new Serie A season
It is Abdou Harroui the author of the first goal, in chronological order, of the 2023/24 Serie A: the Moroccan footballer, at minute number 7 of Frosinone-Napoli, in fact, scored on a penalty kick the goal that unlocked the game in favor of the ciociari, while the other challenge of the afternoon, the one between Empoli and Hellas Verona, was still at 0-0.
The penalty was awarded by the referee of the ‘Benito Stirpe’ challenge, Matteo Marcenaro from Genoa, for a naive foul by Cajuste in the penalty area against Baez. A check in the VAR room confirmed the correctness of the decision made on the field by the referee.
Harroui, born in 1998, arrived a few days ago at Frosinone after playing two years at Sassuolo, which in turn had picked him up in the summer of 2021 from Sparta Rotterdam. He was born in the Netherlands but retained Moroccan citizenship, which he represents at senior national team level.
Today’s is the fourth goal in Italy (third in the league) for Harroui: the last goal before today, in official matches, dates back to last April 8, when the Moroccan national signed the momentary 0-1 in Hellas Verona-Sassuolo, which later ended 2-1 for the Scaligeri.
