F1, Ferrari: Charles Leclerc lapidary on slowed stop
Charles Leclerc doesn’t want to hear about bad luck
This time, strategy had nothing to do with it, and Charles Leclerc himself said so. The race of the Monegasque è was heavily affected by the slow stop, due to traffic, under the Safety Car regime but the Ferrari driver himself admits that it could not have been done differently at that time.
"Definitely was not the ideal situation, becauseé I had to stop right after Carlos – said Leclerc to the microphones of 'Sky Sport' -. Forò è a speech that depends on me and the result in qualifying, I had done a better lap who knowsà…".
Leclerc then said that he did not feel sacrificed at all, strategy-wise, by the box: "It was very normal to make this decision, we had talked about it before the race and seeing how it ended up we did very well: Carlos è finished first, that è that is what counts".
For Leclerc è it was the second consecutive finish at the foot of the podium, after the one in Monza: in the season, he has finished seven times better than Sainz, who instead prevailed, in the domestic challenge, eight times. In the standings, the Spaniard è fifth with 142 points, just ahead of the Monegasque, who has 123.
