Cagliari, Eldor Shomurodov is already at the crossroads
Eldor Shomurodov at the crossroads
Grappling with a disappointing start to the season to say the least (last place in the standings with only two points won in eight games and just three goals scored), Cagliari begins to study the countermoves starting from within: although the winter market is still quite far away, there'è; already in fact the name of a possible departor, that of Eldor Shomurodov.
The Uzbek striker, who arrived in Sardinia on loan from Roma, è always took the field this season, while playing parts of games, but never managed to score, confirming the difficulties in scoring already shown in the previous experience on loan, at Spezia.
Given the competition, Shomurodov could see his role further downsized, in favor not only of Luvumbo and Petagna, but also of veteran Leonardo Pavoletti. Given the imminent return of Gianluca Lapadula, the doors could definitely close for what until a couple of years ago was known as the "Uzbek Messi".
Probable, then, that if things do not change Cagliari could ask Roma to terminate the loan when the market reopens. The next three league games, real salvation clashes against Salernitana (Oct. 22), Frosinone (Oct. 29) and Genoa (Nov. 5) may say a lot, in this sense, about the future of the 1995-born player.
