Ten are summoned by technical director Gianluca Rulfi for the women’s World Cup event in Val d’Isère, France. On the Oreilly-Killy slope, a downhill at 10:30 a.m. is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 16, followed on Sunday, Dec. 17, by a super-giant at 11 a.m., with live television coverage on Rai Due (for the downhill, while the super-giant will goà on Raisport) and Eurosport, with official practice on Thursday, Dec. 14 and Friday, Dec. 15.
Marta Bassino, Federica Brignone, Sofia Goggia, Roberta Melesi, Nicol Delago, Nadia Delago, Laura Pirovano, Elena Dolmen, Tersa Runggaldier, Monica Zanoner. As a reminder, Italy can field up to nine athletes in both disciplines.
The golden roll of the French event records six victories and twenty total podiums for our colors: the successes belong to Sofia Goggia (downhill in 2010, super-giant and downhill in 2021), Karen Putzer (giant in 1998), Isolde Kostner (super-giant in 1999) and Deborah Compagnoni (giant in 1997).
Among active female athletes, Goggia had five other top-three finishes, while Federica Brignone was third in the 2020 women’s supergiant and the absent Elena Curtoni third in supergiant in 2021 and third in supergiant in 2016.
