Sofia Goggia ready to focus on speedà
The speed discipline specialists of the Italian national alpine ski team have concluded a three-day training session in Val di Fassa, with the aim of preparing for this week’s races on the Austrian snows of Altenmarkt-Zauchensee: the Super-G on Friday, January 12, which opens the weekend (it is the recovery of the Super-G cancelled in St. Moritz. Moritz), will also see the presence of Sofia Goggia, who resumes full-time dedication to speed.
"We are in an important moment of the season, now it’s back to skiing over 100 km/h,” the Bergamo-born champion told the 'Val di Fassa Ski World Cup' channels.
Personally, she will skip the Jasna Giant (scheduled for Jan. 20, ed.) to focus on the fast races in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee and Cortina (the latter scheduled for Jan. 26, 27 and 28, ed.
In the Slovenian weekend, therefore, no races for Goggia, who will return just in Val di Fassa, where she will race in the CdM on February 24 and 25, to train: "I will returnò to train here even before Cortina – she confirmed -, while my companions will be in Jasna. February è is still far away, but we azzurre are always happy to compete here in Italy".
Sofia Goggia thus continues the season with the goal of excelling first and foremost in downhill and super-G: in this World Cup season she has so far collected one victory (on December 8 in St. Moritz in Super-G), one second place (the next day in downhill, on the same slope) and one third (on December 17 in the Val d'Isere Super-G).
