Carles Falcon didn't make it

The motorsport world mourns the tragic death of Spanish driver Carles Falcon, who passed away at the age of 45 after eight days in a coma, following a very serious accident during the second stage of the Dakar 2024, in Saudi Arabia. Confirming the news è was the organization of the off-road race itself, with an official note circulated through its channels.

"It is with great sadness that we learned, from his family, of the death of Spanish driver Carles Falcon,” it reads. “He had fallen at kilometer 448 of the special stage of the second stage, from Al-Henakiyah to Al-Duwadimi. The émedical teams, which arrived quickly at the scene, had ascertained the seriousnessà of his condition".

"The pilot had been transported to Al-Duwadimi hospital,‖ the note continued, -before being taken to Riyadh hospital and repatriated to Spain a few days later. Despite great efforts by doctors, the pilot did not make it. Dakar organizers and competitors express their most sincere condolences to his family and friends".

The Twin Trail team, for which the Tarragonese rider raced, also expressed their sorrow through an official statement: "Carles was a smiling person, always active, who passionately loved everything he did, especially motorcycles. He left us doing something that was his dream, racing the Dakar. He had fun, he was happy on the motorcycle. We have to remember him for his smile and for the happiness he aroused in everyone".
