Perugia wins Italian Cup
Sir Safety Vim Perugia won the 2024 edition of the men's Italian Volleyball Cup, beating Mint Vero Volley Monza 3 sets to 1 in the final played at the Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno. 22-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-13 were the partials that rewarded the Umbrian club, in its fourth victory in the national cup.
It wasn't enough for the Brianza team, then, to win the first set to steer the match toward what would have been its first-ever victory in the Italian Cup. Too strong, on the other hand, was the impact of Sir Safety, which thus arrived to win its third seasonal trophy after the Italian Supercup and the World Cup for Club.
For Perugia, among others, 18 points by Semeniuk, 16 by ben Tara, 15 by Flavio, 14 by Plotnytskyi. In Monza, Swarc’s 22 were not enough, in addition to 12 from Loeppky and Galassi. Brianzoli è’s path came to a halt after successes against Lube in the quarters and Trentino in the semifinals. Perugia è instead came to the decisive match after defeating Modena in the quarters and Powervolley Milano.
The Umbrians thus enrich their trophy cabinet, which includes, in addition to 4 Italian Cups (2018, 2019, 2022, 2024), also a Scudetto (2018), 5 Italian Super Cups (2017, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023) and 2 Club World Cups (2022, 2023).
