F1, Ferrari: Charles Leclerc does not hide his disappointment
Charles Leclerc after 8th place in qualifying: "I have no explanation"
Started with a firm request for an explanation by radio to the Ferrari team for not having completed more laps during FP3, Charles Leclerc’s day on Saturday è then continued with a not too lucky qualification: the eighth place è in fact a result that worries not a little the Monegasque in view of the race, especially because é at Suzuka, a rather narrow track and with only one DRS zone, overtaking is rather difficult.
"I have no explanations – began Leclerc speaking to 'Sky Sport' what happened in qualifying on the Japanese circuit -. I only did one flying lap in Q3 but I don’t think I would have done better on the second attempt, I really gave it my all. The feeling with the car wasn't bad, but it wasn't even good enough".
"This year we have always struggled a bit on the launch lap,” he added, “the one coming out of the pits. It's not the first time we can't get the tires to the optimum temperature at the right time. Clearly, there's no one-size-fits-all approach, but it's a difficulty we have to overcome. I have no other regrets forò, I really gave everything I had and we could not do better than thatì".
Much was è said about Ferrari’s race pace: "Confidence in that sense is there," – said Leclerc – but I have less confidence in the possibilities of overtaking that this track gives. For that we had to do well in qualifying but at least on my part I didn't succeed. We have to make a great start and hope to gain positions right away, soì we can fight for something important".
