Rome, Angelo Binaghi satisfied despite the absence of Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini

"We suffered a real invasion of public that made the site suddenly insufficient. With Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini some days we should also have closed and prevented some influxes". This was said by Angelo Binaghi, president of Fitp, during the closing press conference of the Internazionali d'Italia.

"We need to urgently take corrective action,” he continued. "There was too violent a development of the tournament and I apologize to the public, only their passion and education made us keep the situation under control. Already from tomorrow we will begin to study the adjustment of the site, perhaps mounting more stands on the ground courts and have a third numbered court".

On pricing policy, he added: "It seemed that last year’s prices should lead to a drop in attendance, and instead we had a 20 percent increase". Binaghi then concluded: "The economic impact on the territory of the tournament è of 615 million euros, 121, on the other hand, are the millions of tax revenues generated for the state and in less than ten years we have created an impact on the territory more than six times that of 2014".

Regarding the ATP Finals in Turin, Binaghi added: "There's nothing new, we are trying with the government and sponsors to gather all the best energies and resources to try to hold the tournament, but all the reports that have emerged today are unfounded. They are wrong anticipations that hurt an initiative and an adventure that we carry on", he concluded.
