Roland Garros: Sara Errani hits the main draw
Sara Errani-Elena Gabriela Ruse 7-6 7-6
Sara Errani also passed the last qualifying round of Roland Garros and entered the main draw. The tennis player from Romagna, in fact, beat Romanian Elena Gabriela Ruse, number 152 in the WTA ranking, in two sets, with a double 7-6, after two hours and six minutes of play.
An uphill start for Errani, who surrendered the serve in the third game. Ruse’s lead, however, lasted only a short time because the Italian recovered the break disadvantage (3-3). In the seventh game, the Romanian breaks serve again from Sara but gets her serve back one more time, with Errani also canceling two set points in the ninth game. It thus comes to the tie-break in which the Romagnola saves three more set points and wins by 10 points to 8.
After an initial exchange of breaks, the second set follows the script of the first with Ruse twice ahead by a break and in both cases recovered by Errani. The second partial was also thus decided at the tie-break where the difference was again made by a greater lucidity of the Italian player, who won 7 points to 4.
Errani thus enters the women’s main draw of the Paris Slam, joining the other four azzurrettas in the main draw: Jasmine Paolini, Lucia Bronzetti, Elisabetta Cocciaretto and Martina Trevisan.
