Class of 1994, will be back at the end of the year

Compounded by Sassuolo’s relegation to Serie B, Berardi’s future now seems sealed. After spending his entire career in neroverde (he made his debut with the Sassuolo jersey in the 2012/13 season, right in the cadetteria), the 29-year-old striker seems ready to get back into the game elsewhere.

Having injured his Achilles tendon in March, the Azzurri national is proceeding with rehabilitation. If all goes well, he will be able to return to the field, his natural habitat, at the end of the year. He could return there as Juventus’ new striker. The Bianconeri’s long courtship, which has been going on for years now, may have reached the fateful sì.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Berardi has already given his complete willingness to wear the Bianconeri jersey. Now he will need Sassuolo's okay, which, despite the relegation, does not seem willing to give him away; on the contrary, it would like to gain as much as possible to reinvest on new players for the rebuilding of Sassuolo.

Berardi has a significant salary for a club that now has to deal with the cadetteria, namely about three million euros net per season. Juventus could also propose the onerous loan card with a right of redemption under certain conditions. In short, this summer could be the right time for Berardi to move to the Old Lady.
