Luca Nardi-Sebastian Korda 5-7 5-7
Luca Nardi's journey to the round of 16 at the 'ATP 250 in 's-Hertogenbosch stopped in the round of 16. The Pesaro-based tennis player, in fact, è surrendered to Sebastian Korda, seventh seed and world No. 27, who è imposed himself with a double 7-5 in just over an hour and three quarters of play.
Nardi got off to a bad start, giving up the serve in the second game of the match. Korda confirms the break lead and flies to 3-0. The U.S. climbs up to 5-2, here forò comes the reaction of the blue who threads three consecutive games and puts the set back on equal footing. A new stretch by Korda è però decisive and earned him the first partial (7-5).
In the second set Nardi è good at winning a river game (the second) in which he cancels as many as five break points to Korda. In the sixth game, the Marche player saves three more break points and in the next one he snatches service from the American (4-3). The joy, however, is short-lived because Korda signs the immediate counter-break (4-4). The U.S. still proves to be the most lucid in the final stage of the set, and so; as in the first partial, he takes away Nardi’s service in the last game, winning the victory.
Nardi thus has to say goodbye to the Libema Open, while Korda advances to the quarterfinals where he will face the winner of the challenge between the U.S. Tommy Paul, number two in the seeding and number 13 in the ATP rankings, and Australian Alexei Popyrin, number 49 in the world.
