The mini-cycle of friendlies in preparation for the Pre-Olympic Tournament closes with two wins in two games, but for sure the Madrid blitz has immense specific weight. A victory, the one away against Spain (84-87 after an overtime), made of character, conviction, teamwork and awareness of their own means and limits. A beautiful and prestigious victory that duplicates Caceres’ external success in the 2023 World Cup qualifiers.
The Azzurri, led by a 16-point Danilo Gallinari with 2/4 from three, will return to Italy this evening and then leave for Miami tomorrow morning from Fiumicino airport. The transfer to San Juan is scheduled for Saturday, June 29. Pre-Olympic debut on July 2 against Bahrain (11:30 p.m. Italian time, DAZN, Sky Sports and Now).
