Jorge Martin bows to Pecco Bagnaia
Jorge Martin took second place in the Dutch Grand Prix behind an unreachable Pecco Bagnaia. The Spanish rider still leads the overall standings but the gap from his Piedmont rival now è reduced: there are only ten points separating Martin (at 200) from Bagnaia (at 190).
The Pramac centaur acknowledged the superiority of Bagnaia to the microphones of Sky Sport: "I gave my best, today I could not do more, the penalty’I immediately solved it at the start and then I immediately put myself in second position. I was feeling good, even with the medium tire, and when I saw 1:31.9 on the dashboard I didn’t want to believe it. Pecco was però on another level, but I am happy becauseè we made up the gap we had on Fridayì and yesterday morning".
"I am happy with second place at a track where I had never been on the podium,” added the Spaniard, “I was second with a margin and there was no point in taking risks. Pecco had a superior pace, he was the one who managed the gap, he ‘played’ with the stopwatch. Even if I had passed him at the start, I would not have been able to keep his pace".
"Today the maximum was to make second, the last laps I didn’t have the front anymore. I was losing at T2, at turn six he was so fast, it seemed like he didn’t brake. We will try again at Sachsenring" concluded Martin.
