Trials USA, in the men’s 200 dominates Noah Lyles

No double chase in sprinting in Paris for U.S. sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson. The 100-meter world champion, and bronze medalist in the 200, failed the decisive test on the half-lap at the ongoing U.S. Trials in Eugene, Oregon, finishing fourth after impressing in the batteries, and thus was left out of the trio that will get a pass to the Olympics.

She è will be at the start, however, in the 100, having won the relative test a few days ago, and also in the 4×100 relay. Dominating the race è was Gabby Thomas (21”81), bronze medalist at Tokyo 2021 and vice world champion last summer. World specialty vice-champion in Doha in 2019, Brittany Brown (21”90) will compete in her first Olympics at age 29, just like young McKenzie Long (21”91, 23).

Among the men, Noah Lyles dominated the 200 meters and is a candidate to bag medals in Paris, Marcella Jacobs permitting. World tri-champion last summer in Budapest (100, 200, 4×100), the U.S. announced some time ago that he would also compete in the 4×400.

After securing a place for the 100 meters, Lyles dazzled last night over the double distance, clocking a time of 19”53, the world’s best seasonal performance. The other two Americans to compete in the 200 will be Kenneth Bednarek and Erriyon Knighton.
