Ferrari, Carlos Sainz attends party: ‘Great strategy’

Ferrari in celebration at Monza for Charles Leclerc’s triumph in the Italian Grand Prix, achieved thanks to the courageous strategy of making one less tire change than his rivals. A choice also made by Carlos Sainz, who although aware that he was running for the last time with the colors of the Cavallino in the Brianza circuit exalted the team at the end of the day.

"I want to congratulate Ferrari, because we chose the right strategy today. And it was not easy, becauseé Monza always represents a tricky challenge. But we managed to bring home a very good result, a win and a fourth place", è was Sainz's analysis.

The Spaniard also stressed the growth of a Ferrari capable of playing on equal terms with the excellent McLaren of recent weeks. "We did to all intents and purposes a race against them,” explained Sainz. “It was decisive to stay in their slipstream, and unfortunately I lost it around lap 15. But fighting together with them è it was good, we will see if we can make it even on circuits other than Monza".

The regret of missing the podium remains, a circumstance on which Sainz has an explanation: "Having changed tires after the others, I thought I would be the only one with the one-stop strategy. Then I realized that others could have done the same, especially Leclerc. Too bad, had I also re-entered 5-6 laps earlier I would have maybe gained six or seven seconds".
