Elisa Balsamo European silver

Italy still on the podium at the European Road Cycling Championships being held in Belgian Limburg. Elisa Balsamo took silver in the Women Elite trial, won by Lorena Wiebes, with the Netherlands on its eighth success in nine editions of the championships.

Completing the podium was Poland’s Daria Pikulik. The women’s race è was controlled by the orange team that did not allow any breakaways, with Wiebes who è sprinted at 200 meters, taking enough meters to collect her second European title.

Elisa Balsamo canò celebrate this second place that marks the definitive return to the highest level after a complicated season. For the Cuneo è the second place d'honor at the Europeans, after the one in 2022, always behind Wiebes.

For the Italian expedition this is the fifth medal in this edition of the continental championships, with at the moment two golds, one silver and two bronzes.

In the junior race, Kristoff of Norway won, ahead of Spain’s Alvarez Martinez and France’s Seixas. Tomorrow the last two races, the women’s junior race in the morning, then the men’s 222.8-kilometer race.
