The gap to Martin in the World Drivers’ Championship è of 21 points

After a first session in which he set the fastest time, Bagnaia ended Free Practice 2 at Motegi, site of the MotoGP Japanese Grand Prix, with the seventh fastest time overall. Some difficulties in the fast lap but a good race pace. The reigning World Champion expressed his satisfaction at the end of the day.

"I felt good on the track right from the start. This circuit suits my riding style well. I like the bike, I would say we did the right things. Now we need to make one more stepù but I would say that we are on the right path", his clear words to Sky Sport.

Bagnaia stressed the excellent approach to the free practice: "In my opinion it was essential to start well from the beginning and this time è it went just soì. I am very happy". A quip also about the tires that, almost certainly, will make a difference in both the Sprint and the race on Sunday: "The soft for the Sprint works well but may also have a final drop. For Sunday, I think the medium is the right choice".

In the World Drivers’ Championship, Bagnaia is 21 points behind Martin, who, at the end of the two free practice sessions, è appeared a little disappointed: "I didn't feel very good, I suffered in front. I hope I can put everything right. Whoever chooses the right tires, I think he will win the race".
