Binaghi’s words

"The Davis Cup and the Billie Jean King Cup have a greater value if, as in our case, they are the fruit of teamwork and the harmony of a group of friends and acquaintances who, when they play for the national team, manage to exalt themselves  and honor our country to the fullest. Our boys and girls transmit to the younger generation the value of friendship, loyalty and joint effort. And they allow us to show the rest of the world how we know how to be a team when we want to achieve a great goal". In the words of Italian Tennis and Padel Federation President Angelo Binaghi, during the meeting at the Quirinale with President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella to celebrate the triumphs of the two Italian national teams and Italian tennis players in 2024, there's pride for a period of unprecedented success in the history of Italian tennis.

Last year, added Binaghi recalling the 2024 ceremony after the Davis Cup victory and Jannik Sinner’s first Slam singles title, "we had expressed the hope that this beautiful ceremony could become a custom. We cared about it so much that we probably went too far. What our boys and girls have achieved in 2024 is unparalleled in the history of Italian tennis: they have made our nation for the first time the best in the world".

"Unfortunately,” he added with irony, “we were not able to follow the valuable indications of Minister Abodi, whom we thank for everything he does for Italian sports, who reminded us several times  how, in life and in sports, you have to know how to win without ever overdoing it".

The victories in the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup in 2024, the first year in which the Italian national team triumphed in both events, "are worth even more than the previous ones because é è tennis in Italy that is worth more and more year by year, as it è is getting more and more followed, more popular and above all much more practiced" highlighted Binaghi. But this is not è over. The number 1 of Italian tennis traces the path for the future through three clear directions.

"We want to make tennis grow again: we think this must be our contribution to have a better country. We will do it with the successes of our boys and girls, with their simplicity and their great ability to communicate their values. We will do this by working in every possible way so thaté on TV, every day of the year, all Italians of any age and social class can get excited by the extraordinary feats of our boys and girls. We will also do this with widespread action in all compulsory schools in our country where we will go to introduce and practice tennis to hundreds and hundreds of thousands of children who will learn about our disciplines and the values of sport".

President Binaghi reserves one last precious wish. "Next May we will organize together with Sport and Health an extraordinary edition of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia and our next dream, Mr. President, è that you will be able to attend by our side the final in which at least one of our children".
