When does Lorenzo Musetti play at Roland Garros: his record with Holger Rune

Lorenzo Musetti, freshly ranked world No. 7, his best ranking ever, has advanced to the Roland Garros round of 16 for the third time in his career: in 2021 he lost to Novak Djokovic playing the first two sets in epic fashion and ending up retiring in the fifth, in 2023 he succumbed decisively to Carlos Alcaraz.
Musetti on the French capital’s red surface beat in order Germany’s Yannick Hanfmann in three sets, Colombia’s Daniel Elahi Galan in three sets, and Argentina’s Mariano Navone in four sets. Now the 23-year-old from Carrara, Tuscany, will have to contend with Denmark’s Holger Rune, who in the summer of two years a had touched world No. 4 and currently has just re-entered the top ten, at No. 10.
In Paris, Rune twice reached the quarterfinals in 2022 and 2023, losing both times in four sets to Norwegian Casper Ruud. There are two previous meetings between Musetti and Rune, neither on clay and both won by the Dane. In the quarterfinals on London’s Queen’s grass in 2023 Rune won 6-4 7-5, last year in the third round on California’s Indian Wells concrete the score was 6-2 7-6.
The match between Lorenzo Musetti and Holger Rune will be played on Sunday, June 1: the Roland Garros organization has determined that the Blue will take the court in the evening round at Philippe Chatrier, so not before 8:15 p.m.
