Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner’s next opponent is Grigor Dimitrov

Jannik Sinner will face Grigor Dimitrov in the round of 16 at Wimbledon in a match scheduled for next Monday. However, the Bulgarian in order to center the passage to the round against the San Candido champion (in turn victorious on Saturday over Pedro Martinez) must commit to a challenge with Austria’s Sebastian Ofner, number 165 on the ATP circuit, who was beaten in three sets after just over two hours of play. The final score read 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(0), but the match proved to be more balanced than expected for a long time.
After three games without any particular jolt, Dimitrov accelerated in the fourth by snatching Ofner’s serve after conceding just one point. That was enough, because the Austrian could no longer make a comeback and struggled even to counter it. It was only in the final that he sold his skin dearly, forcing Sinner’s next opponent to close the score on third set point.
More complicated for the Bulgarian was the start of the next set, in which Ofner won two break points that if turned into a point would put him up 2-0. Dimitrov, however, cancels them both, only to be the one to snatch service from his opponent and then 2-1 in the next game. That was enough to put him on a downhill course, in seven particularly fast games.
Ofner tried again in the third set, however, and this time he succeeded in his mission to find himself up 2-0. Again, however, the counterbreak is immediate, although Dimitrov fails to close the score throughout the remainder of the match. In fact, the Austrian cancels another break point at 5-5, only to collapse hard in a tie-break that ended even at 0. The Bulgarian advances, and now Sinner awaits him.
