The Prevention Manifesto “Every Movement Counts” was signed today in Milan, the programmatic document wanted and created by the AIRC Foundation for Cancer Research, with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Health, Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation and Esselunga as the first signatory.
The signing takes place in conjunction with the start of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games and close to World Cancer Day on February 4, reaffirming the value of sports as an engine of health, prevention and inclusion.
The presentation took place at the headquarters of the Milan Cortina 2026 Foundation, during the event the Manifesto was signed by Andrea Sironi, President of AIRC Foundation for Cancer Research, Diana Bianchedi, Chief Strategy Planning & Legacy Officer of Milan Cortina 2026 Foundation, Marina Caprotti, Executive Chairman of Esselunga, the first signatory of the document.
The Prevention Manifesto was created to disseminate an accessible, inclusive and sustainable culture of prevention, promoting conscious behaviors and choices to reduce key modifiable cancer risk factors. In fact, numerous studies have shown that about 40 percent of new cancer cases are potentially preventable1 through healthy habits: not smoking, physical activity, choosing a varied and balanced diet in line with the Mediterranean diet, not drinking alcohol, and adhering to vaccinations and recommended screenings for early diagnosis.
The Manifesto is designed to promote a culture of prevention that is accessible and sustainable.
The document is divided into 10 points, weaving together the values of sports with the basic principles of prevention and health. From perseverance to the importance of mental well-being, from the strength of the team to the value of example, the Manifesto calls on citizens, institutions, agencies and businesses to team up for collective well-being.
